2023 Nissan Leaf Buyer's Guide: Cost, Info, Features & More

Nissan’s pioneering EV is getting a mini makeover. Now on sale at United Nissan Reno, the 2023 Nissan Leaf arrives with updated design elements and two trims. This revised lineup, which cuts down from the previous model year’s five options, reflects drivers’ most requested features – offered at the best value.

New Look and Lineup

For more than a decade, the Leaf has represented Nissan’s commitment to bringing sustainable mobility solutions to the masses. The 2023 EV continues this vision by maintaining its price but adding striking styling features and new wheels. With these updates, the Leaf delivers maximum value and quality, while still honoring its title as the most affordable EV.

The 2023 Leaf comes in two grade levels, S and SV Plus. Using feedback from drivers, Nissan tailored these two trims based on the driver’s most requested technologies. Additionally, these two trims now better reflect the look and feel of Nissan’s new design identity. Some of the styling updates include an enhanced front-end appearance, refreshed front grille, bumper molding, and headlights that feature a new black inner finisher. New shaping and rear spoiler also support better aerodynamics – though the estimated driving range remains largely unchanged.

2023 Nissan Leaf Price

Last year, Nissan lowered the Leaf’s MSRP to provide the best value to drivers. The 2023 Leaf S and SV Plus will continue this popular positioning, with both models maintaining similar starting prices to last year’s model. As of 2022, the base model starts at $27,400 and the S Plus starts at $32,400. In a time when inflation costs are driving up the costs of goods, this is added assurance that Nissan is committed to giving the maximum value and quality to consumers.

Qualified purchasers may also be eligible for a potential federal tax credit of up to $7,500. Some states also offer additional incentives to get more EVs on the road. If that’s not enough reason to go electric, then consider this. Last year, the Leaf was named KBB’s annual “5-Year Cost-to-Own” winner, making it the fifth consecutive year it’s been awarded this title. Plus, with the way gas prices are looking – it just makes sense to go electric!

Leaf S vs. Leaf SV Plus

Simplifying the lineup for 2023, the Leaf has gone from five trims to two. On its base model, the EV is equipped with a 40-kWh lithium-ion battery and a 110-kW electric motor. Together, they deliver 147 hp, 236 lb-ft of torque, and an all-electric drive range of 150 miles.

On the upgraded SV Plus, the EV is equipped with a 60-kWh lithium-ion battery and a powerful 160-kW electric motor that produces 214 hp and 250 lb-ft of torque. Similar to the previous model year, it is expected to offer 215 miles of all-electric driving range.

The Leaf can be charged into a regular 120-volt outlet or a 240-volt outlet, though the charging times will vary. With a 240-volt connection, Nissan says both battery sizes can be replenished in seven hours. DC fast-charging is also standard on both trims.

Both grade levels come with a limited lithium-ion battery warranty which covers defects for eight years or 100,000 miles. Nissan also provides a limited warranty against battery capacity loss for the same duration.

Even better, when you buy a Leaf at United Nissan Reno, it comes with a Never-Ending Warranty which covers repairs on your powertrain for as long as you own the vehicle – unlimited time, unlimited miles. Drive with peace of mind knowing your car is covered in the event of mechanical failure. Valid only at United Nissan Reno!
